Performance-Based Contract Due to Injury History
Tomiyasu, a versatile defender capable of playing across the back line, has not played a full 90 minutes in nearly a year and a half, a fact that has influenced the terms of his agreement.
Due to the former Arsenal player's recent injury history, Ajax and Tomiyasu have agreed on a performance-based contract. This arrangement means that the financial cost to the club in terms of salary will remain low if Tomiyasu plays little or no part in matches.
Following the medical examination, the player will need to secure a work permit. He is currently hoping to join team training sessions starting in early January.
