Amorim responds to former United legends: 'They don't know everything'
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim said he was open to criticism from former club players, but that his judgments were made "without having all the information" about the behind-the-scenes at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says he accepts criticism from the club's former players as normal, but stresses that the lack of wins is the main reason for the current failure.

Amorim, who has been constantly questioned by former United stars such as Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville and Roy Keane and current commentators, said he was open to criticism because the results were not good enough.
Earlier, Scholes said the Portuguese manager was "not the right man" and "didn't understand the club".
"It is a fact that we have failed"
Amorim said the former stars' views are "normal", but added that they don't understand everything that goes on behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
Amorim said, "I think it's normal. I think it's a fact that we have fallen short as Manchester United manager. We should have had more points, especially this season, so I think it's natural," Amorim said.

On the former players who criticized him, Amorim added: "Sometimes they don't have all the information and they see Manchester United by the standards they live by, a club that always wins. So it's difficult for them to see their club in this situation."
Amorim has had a difficult first year as United manager, winning just 14 of his 42 Premier League games since taking charge in November 2024.
"The only problem is not winning"
Scholes has also targeted the 40-year-old Amorim's style of play, which relies on three defenses instead of four, and his treatment of academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo. But Amorim believes that if the team starts winning more regularly, all the criticism from former players will stop.
"I think the problem is not winning," Amorim said. "Of course you can point out many things and they point out many things that we need to improve, but the big problem is not winning. If I'm winning, I can go to games on horseback, I can play with only two defenders and everything will be fine."
Amorim continued: "The problem is that I'm not doing a good enough job as a manager and that's a fact, I can accept that. So that's the only problem. The problem for them is that Manchester United are not winning and are not where they should be," Amorim concluded.
