Alcaraz and Pegula advance to semifinals at US Open

Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Jessica Pegula of the USA reached the semifinals of the US Open, the last grand slam tennis tournament of the season.

Alcaraz, who defeated his opponent 3-0 in sets of 6-4, 6-2 and 6-4 in a match that lasted one hour and 56 minutes, reached the 9th grand slam semifinal of his career. The 22-year-old tennis player, who has not given a set so far, will match the winner of the Novak Djokovic-Taylor Fritz match in the semifinals.

Women's singles No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula of the USA defeated Barbora Krejcikova, ranked No. 62 in the world, in straight sets 6-3 to reach the last four. Last year's finalist Pegula will face the winner of the Aryna Sabalenka-Marketa Vondrousova match in the semifinals.
