The club announced the devastating news via an official statement, confirming that the injury is a high-grade tear (lesione del retto femorale destro) in his right rectus femoris muscle. The expected recovery time is approximately eight weeks, meaning Immobile will not return to the pitch until late October.

The injury occurred around the 30th minute of the first half of the match against Roma, forcing the Rossoblù forward to leave the field. He was replaced by substitute Castro.

The bad news was compounded for manager Vincenzo Italiano, who also lost defender Nicolò Casale to injury during the first half. Casale was forced off at halftime, replaced by new signing Vitik.

The official medical reports confirm the injuries for both players:

Official Bologna medical report:

"The tests to which Nicolò Casale and Ciro Immobile were subjected have shown, respectively: a low-grade tear of the right femoral biceps (expected recovery time approximately 3-4 weeks) and a tear of the right rectus femoris (expected recovery time approximately 8 weeks)."

While Casale’s injury is less severe, forcing him out for around a month, the loss of Immobile for the next two months is a major blow to Bologna's early-season aspirations.
