Glasner, who had already announced on Friday that he would leave the club at the end of the season, burned bridges after Saturday's 2-1 loss to Sunderland. The 51-year-old manager reacted strongly to the sale of captain Marc Guéhi to Manchester City just a day before the game, saying:
"We feel completely abandoned. There is no explanation for selling our captain one day before the game. There is no support for my players, we have been in this situation for weeks."
According to Sky Sports, chairman Steve Parish is "bewildered and angry" after these statements. The board argue that they had to accept the £20 million offer to keep Guéhi for free (due to his contract expiring soon). Glasner's public criticism of this has caused a rift.
