MADE HISTORY
Edin Dzeko, who signed for Fiorentina at the start of the season, made history with his second goal for his new team following the Conference League qualifiers. The 39-year-old Dzeko became the oldest player to score in Conference League history.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Edin Dzeko said they needed to start winning in the league too. The experienced striker also responded to a question about whether he plays better in a two-striker system, saying:
‘I don't want to say too much because if I say more, the manager gets annoyed. In my opinion, when we play with two strikers, we are closer to each other and we are important for the team. When you struggle during the match, we can even be a reference point for long balls. But the decision is the manager's. We must do our best on the pitch.’

While Edin Dzeko's comments caused quite a stir in the Italian press, Fiorentina manager Stefano Pioli was asked about Dzeko's remarks. Pioli responded as follows:
"We are trying to find a balance. At the moment, we don't have the strength for more than two attacking players. This depends on the situation we are in and the balance. Hopefully we can field a substitute striker, but now is not the time. A strong player knows where my office is. He knows I have to make a decision, and he needs to be ready. Hierarchies within the team can always change; it depends on performances and, above all, results."
