Watzke on Wirtz deal: 'I wish he had gone to Bayern Munich'

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has made a remarkable statement about Florian Wirtz, who is expected to sign for Liverpool.

Watzke said that Wirtz should stay in Germany, "It's a real shame for the Bundesliga that a player like Florian Wirtz is leaving the country. I would have preferred him to go to Bayern Munich instead of Liverpool, at least it would have been better for the Bundesliga."

Florian Wirtz, who Liverpool are set to sign for around 140 million Euros, will undergo a medical for the English team in a few days.

Wearing the Bayer Leverkusen jersey 45 times in all competitions this season, the star player scored 16 times and assisted 15 times.
