Thomas Frank: 'We are not a Champions League team'

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has made some very controversial statements about the "transition process" of the giant clubs and the Champions League status. Frank argued that participation that only comes with trophies does not reflect the real power.

Tottenham Technical Director Thomas Frank questioned the criteria for a club to be considered elite. Frank drew attention especially to the difference between European cups and league performance.

Frank, who evaluated the club's current situation frankly, said:
"To be honest, I think we are in a transitional phase. Yes, on paper we are a Champions League club, but are we really?"
Frank emphasized that the way a club qualifies for the Champions League does not determine its true dominance in the league:
"We only qualified for the Champions League because we won the Europa League, not because we are one of the top four or five clubs in the Premier League."
