In the welterweight title fight at Madison Square Garden, Islam Makhachev won the second welterweight title of his career with a clear victory over his opponent Jack Della Maddalena. The Dagestani fighter became the 11th athlete to win belts in multiple categories in the UFC.

"This was my dream. I've been fighting for this my whole life," said Makhachev, who put on one of the most dominant performances of his career. Makhachev had 19 minutes and 10 seconds of control throughout the fight and was successful in every attempt, constantly taking his opponent to the ground. Leg kicks, clean shots to the head and suffocating pressure on the ground gave Maddalena no breathing room.
"I didn't cut weight, I was able to do what I wanted, it was very easy tonight," Makhachev said after the fight, adding that adjusting to welterweight has made him stronger.
