Statement from Melissa Vargas on the image that appeared on social media

Melissa Vargas made a statement about the image taken with a cell phone and reflected on social media during Fenerbahçe Medicana Women's Volleyball Team's match against Zeren Spor in the 16th week of the Sultans League.

Vargas posted on his social media, "I wanted to clarify the many comments that have been made since I saw the news on social media. The touch on my shoulder by our coach right after the block I made, which forced the opposing team to take a timeout, was purely for congratulations and motivation. This is a reflection of the fight we put on the Fenerbahce jersey and our strong team spirit. We are a family on and off the field."

At the sponsorship signing ceremony, Fenerbahçe Secretary General Orhan Demirel said the following:

"After I was assigned to volleyball, I was very surprised by these social media activities. Normally I don't follow social media much, but especially in volleyball, there is a group of people who are very conscious and sometimes the opposite.

Yesterday's video was also shown to me this morning. I talked to both Eda captain, Marcello and Vargas. Of course it is very funny. 15 seconds before this move Vargas makes a block and Zeren has to take a timeout. Marcello is also in his own family, this is a family, I don't think there is any point in perceiving this badly. It's all perception management. I don't know why this was done. If you look at the footage 15 seconds before this move, it is very clear."
