Samet Akaydin’s bold comments on Jose Mourinho ahead of Rizespor-Fenerbahçe match

Fenerbahçe will visit Çaykur Rizespor in the Trendyol Super Lig on Sunday evening, with Samet Akaydin set to face his former team while playing for Rizespor.

The national team defender recently started in Turkey’s 2-2 draw against Spain in a crucial away match. Ahead of the upcoming Çaykur Rizespor-Fenerbahçe match, Samet spoke to Ajansspor.

“I believe I’ve started the season very well. I’m working hard this season, taking good care of myself. With the World Cup ahead, I will work even harder to make it there,” said the experienced player, expressing his goal to reach the 2026 World Cup.

Samet also shared his desire to play in Europe: “My goals are never finished. I hope to play in Europe one day. While I was at Fenerbahçe, I received official offers from Italy. My contract ends at the end of the season, but right now I’m focused on playing for Rizespor. Let’s see what happens."

When asked about Jose Mourinho, Samet responded, “I don’t want to comment on Mourinho. I’ve moved on from those days and am focused on my own life. Right now, I’m at Rizespor, and I’m focused here.”
