Xabi Alonso is expected to take over the team after the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025. During that tournament, an interim coach will be in charge.
During his playing career, Xabi Alonso wore the Real Madrid shirt from 2009 to 2014 and began his coaching career at the club's youth academy in the 2018/19 season.
The 43-year-old Spanish coach won the Champions League, La Liga, 2 Copa del Rey titles, and 1 Spanish Super Cup with Real Madrid.
