Ahead of the one-match round, Gabon coach Thierry Mouyuma also mentioned Victor Osimhen while talking about the match. Mouyuma said, "Nigeria is a big African team, we know they are the favorites. Nigeria will be under more pressure, which is understandable. But even though we respect them for everything, we are not afraid of them. We know the quality of their squad, we know the dangers that Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman pose. And I think Nigeria knows us very well."
