Malcolm Brogdon, the 2017 NBA Rookie of the Year, has announced the end of his basketball career. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the 32-year-old, who was acquired by the New York Knicks this summer, has decided to retire from professional basketball.

In his retirement announcement, Brogdon expressed his feelings with the following words: "Today I say goodbye to my basketball career. Over the years I have dedicated my whole self to this sport, I have achieved many successes and now it's time to enjoy these moments with my family and loved ones. I thank everyone who supported me on this journey."

Brogdon signed a minimum contract with the Knicks this summer and was expected to be part of the team's main rotation. He averaged 4.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2 assists in four preseason games as he recovered from his injury.

Selected 36th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2016 NBA Draft, Brogdon won Rookie of the Year in 2017 and Sixth Man of the Year in 2023. However, he has spent the last two seasons struggling with injuries. Last season, he averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game for the Washington Wizards.
