National Team coach Vincenzo Montella: 'He had a muscle problem'

National Team defeated Bulgaria 2-0 in the match played in Bursa in the 5th week match of Group E of the World Cup Qualifiers. Coach Vincenzo Montella made statements after the match.

"WE FAILED TO CAPITALIZE ON THE OPPORTUNITIES"

Stating that they found many positions in the match, Montella said: "I want to congratulate our boys. It's not easy to win when you play against a team that doesn't need a result. We had opportunities but we couldn't capitalize, it could have been a different score. Maybe it's a record, I don't know for sure, we collected 12 points in the group. Our bad luck is that we have Spain in our group, which is ranked 1st in the FIFA classification. We are going to the play-offs second because of that bad luck. There will be points that we will evaluate."

Stating that whoever plays will perform, the Italian coach continued with the following words:

"I trust every single one of my players, whoever is on the field or not. Our team will be competitive no matter who plays. We will play against everyone. Our goal is the playoffs and it would not be smart for us to take risks in a different way. We need to be smart. Whoever plays will perform. Continue with confidence."

"HE HAD A MUSCLE PROBLEM"

Speaking about Kaan Ayhan's injury, Vincenzo Montellaşu concluded:

"Merih's substitution was a technical decision. We shouldn't take risks, Abdülkerim had already received a yellow card. I didn't want to take any risks. Why am I doing this? I have other players, they give me a lot of confidence. Everyone is fighting incredibly. I'm proud of every single one of them. Kaan Ayhan is a bit more sensitive. He had a muscle problem. It won't last long but we can't be positive because of his condition. He also made us very sad."
