McLaren drivers disqualified after Las Vegas GP

After the 22nd race of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, the Las Vegas Grand Prix, McLare drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were disqualified from the race due to base wear exceeding the rules. After this decision, Max Verstappen reduced his point difference with the top of the drivers' standings to 24 points with 2 races left before the end of the season.

The winner of the 22nd race of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, the Grand Prix of Las Vegas, was Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. He was followed in second place by McLaren driver Lando Norris and then Mercedes driver George Russel. Oscar Piastri, another McLaren driver, finished the race in 4th place.

The organization said in a statement that Norris and Piastri were disqualified during post-race checks because the baseplate on their cars was worn beyond the required level.

The double disqualification was the first 'double disqualification' in McLaren history. With the results updated, George Russell moved up to second place, while Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli took the third step, the first F1 podium of his career.

After the disqualifications, race winner Max Verstappen is level on points with Oscar Piastri, both on 366 points. Lando Norris remains in the lead with 390 points.
