Real Madrid managed to defeat lower league team Talavera 3-2 in the King's Cup, albeit with difficulty. The name that marked the match was Kylian Mbappe, who scored two goals. Mbappe came one step closer to Cristiano Ronaldo's record with his goals.
With his two goals against Talavera, Mbappe took his goal tally for Real Madrid in a calendar year to 58. The French star is just one goal away from equaling Cristiano Ronaldo's record for the most goals in a calendar year in Real Madrid history, which was set in 2013 (59 goals in a calendar year).
