Max Verstappen won the Qatar GP, the second to last race in Formula 1, with the championship going down to the last race. Max Verstappen, with a time of 1 hour 24 minutes 38.241 seconds, left his rivals behind and took the 7th win of the season and the 70th win of his career. McLaren's Australian driver Oscar Piastri, who started the race from pole position, finished second, 7.995 seconds behind the leader, and Carlos Sainz, the Spanish driver of the Williams team, finished third, 22.665 seconds behind. Verstappen reached 396 points in the drivers' classification, moving up to second place before the final stage and reducing the points difference with leader Norris to 12.
