Manchester United's striker dilemma: Ekitike bombshell, Osimhen reality...
Following a dismal season, Manchester United is eyeing a critical summer transfer window, with top strikers like Hugo Ekitike and Victor Osimhen on their radar. While Ekitike's reported £85m price tag raises doubts, Osimhen's long-standing desire for a Premier League move makes him a genuine option for the struggling Reds.

Manchester United faces one of their most crucial transfer windows in recent memory, following a deeply disappointing 2024/25 campaign that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League – their worst-ever showing – and suffer a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Despite a late 2-0 home victory against Aston Villa on the final day, the pressure is on manager Ruben Amorim to rebuild the squad. Ekitike bombshell
United have reportedly entered the race for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. Sky Germany, via Sky Sports, indicates that the Reds are actively exploring the conditions for a potential deal for the 22-year-old forward. Frankfurt is said to be demanding a substantial £85 million (€100m) for Ekitike, who still has four years remaining on his current contract.

However, doubts are emerging about the feasibility and desirability of this move. Isaac Seelochan of the Manchester Evening News expressed skepticism: "Ekitike would be an excellent signing, however, I have my doubts over whether he would want to join United in their current state. Osimhen reality
Despite the focus on Ekitike, Victor Osimhen remains a very real option for Manchester United, according to claims by United in Focus. Reporter Graeme Bailey confirmed the genuine interest: "We’ve known about United and Osimhen for months, and it is genuine interest." Crucially, Bailey added, "United have known his wage demands and that he is prioritising a move to England for months; he has always wanted a Premier League move." Osimhen himself is aware that United is a potential destination and is keen on a move to England.
While Isaac Seelochan noted that "Osimhen would be a much better option up-front than what United currently have," he also suggested that Amorim might prefer Viktor Gyokeres. Nonetheless, Seelochan concluded that if Gyokeres were to join another team, "then Osimhen could be a potential back-up option," highlighting his continued relevance to United's transfer plans. The coming weeks will undoubtedly be crucial in determining which attacking talents will lead United's charge for revival.
