Manchester United has launched a third bid for Bryan Mbeumo
Manchester United has launched a third, potentially £70 million, bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, aiming to secure the Cameroonian international before their pre-season tour to the US on Tuesday. Old Trafford prioritizes bringing Mbeumo into Ruben Amorim's squad, hoping his goal-scoring prowess can remedy last season's attacking struggles.

Manchester United has intensified their pursuit of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, submitting a third bid that could be worth up to an impressive £70 million. The latest offer is understood to be an initial £65 million, with an additional £5 million in add-ons. Despite the significant bid, Brentford has yet to formally discuss the proposal.

However, United remains confident in securing Mbeumo, hoping to integrate the 25-year-old Cameroon international into Ruben Amorim's squad before they depart for their three-game pre-season tour in the US this coming Tuesday. The club's priority has consistently been to finalize the Mbeumo deal in time for Amorim to work with him extensively in Chicago, where the team will be largely based during their 13-day trip.
Mbeumo enjoyed a stellar last season, netting 20 Premier League goals for Brentford, attracting interest from several top clubs, including Tottenham, now managed by his former Brentford boss Thomas Frank. Nevertheless, Mbeumo's clear preference has been to join United. His arrival is crucial for United, given that Amorim has repeatedly highlighted the team's failure to convert chances. Their 44 Premier League goals last season represented their worst return in a domestic campaign since their relegation in 1973-74.

United has already made two significant signings this summer, bringing in forward Matheus Cunha and defender Diego Leon. If Mbeumo's transfer goes through, it's anticipated that skipper Bruno Fernandes will play a deeper role, as Cunha is earmarked for one of the two inside forward slots that Amorim prefers behind a main striker. This potential influx of attacking talent further diminishes the chances of the four current first-team exiles – Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony – being reintegrated into the squad.
United is set to kick off their Premier League season against rivals Arsenal at Old Trafford on August 17.
