According to confirmed reports from the Civil Guard and local news outlet zamora24horas.com, the accident occurred around 1:30 AM (Wednesday into Thursday) near kilometer 65 of the A-52 highway, in the municipality of Cernadilla. Diogo Jota, 28, and André Felipe, 26, who played for Peñafiel, were traveling supposedly in a sports car that, following a preliminary investigation, is believed to have suffered a tire blowout while attempting to overtake another vehicle. This led to the car veering off the road in a "fatal exit," subsequently catching fire. The intense blaze consumed the vehicle, resulting in the immediate deaths of both brothers.

Emergency services, including the Traffic Civil Guard, Zamora Firefighters, and medical personnel from the 1-1-2 Castilla y León emergency coordination center, swiftly responded to multiple calls from witnesses reporting a burning car. Upon arrival, the medical teams could only confirm the fatalities of the two occupants, whose identities were later confirmed through the vehicle's license plate, as their bodies were severely carbonized.

More tragically his brother Andre Felipe got married in 12th of June, just ten days before Diogo Jota.
