Football Association of Ireland's appeal to UEFA for Israel! 74 votes in favor
The Football Association of Ireland will make a formal application to UEFA to ban Israel from football at national team and club level.

At a meeting of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), a formal proposal to the governing body of European football to ban Israel from football for violating UEFA rules was approved by 74 votes. While 7 members opposed the proposal, 2 members abstained.

In a statement released by the federation, it was noted that Israel violated the FIFA (article 73) and UEFA (article 5) statutes by establishing clubs in illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank without the approval of the Palestinian Football Federation.
The statement said that by failing to implement an effective anti-racism policy, Israel was also in breach of Article 7 of UEFA's statutes.
Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu had sent a letter to FIFA, UEFA and all football federation presidents in September calling for Israel to be banned from all sporting competitions.
The Norwegian Football Federation, which wanted Israel to be banned, donated all the proceeds of the match they played against Israel on October 11 in the FIFA 2026 World Cup European Qualifiers to Gaza.

Pressure on UEFA increased after the United Nations Commission of Inquiry published a report that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza, and preparations for an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee to discuss the issue were postponed when the Peace Plan was announced.
