Ergin Ataman blasts his players! 'They don't deserve...'

Panathinaikos defeated PAOK away from home last night (Sunday, January 18) in the 15th week of the Greek League. However, the game was much more difficult than expected for the green and whites.

Panathinaikos coach Ergin Ataman harshly criticized some of his players in the press conference after the game.

Coach Ataman said that some players 'don't deserve to play for Panathinaikos':

"We played very well in the first half, but in the second half we had problems because of Holmes and Cedi's foul problems. Grant also had problems because of the zero contribution of some players. These players again damaged our system. We were in danger of losing the game. It was a tough game for us after the loss against Bayern in Munich. Despite the injuries to Nunn, Mitoglou and Rogkavopoulos, we started the game perfectly, but some players from the bench damaged the system and we came close to losing the game. We won thanks to five players led by Sloukas, who showed great character.

The players coming from the bench damaged our whole system. Unfortunately we were missing three important players today and we need them. With this performance some players don't deserve to play in my team, in my system, in a great team like Panathinaikos. They damaged the system."

To the question "Will this situation lead to changes in the roster?" Ergin Ataman gave the following answer:

"No, it's too late for transfers. We are waiting for the injured players to come back. Nunn, Mitoglou and Rogkavopoulos are three very important players. When they return, the players who are not in the system will not play, no problem."
