NBA star Damian Lillard is returning to his former team, the Portland Trail Blazers.

According to Shams Charania, Lillard will sign a three-year, $42 million contract with the Trail Blazers. 35 Lillard's contract includes a player option for 2027-28 and a trade veto.

The Milwaukee Bucks released the 35-year-old star earlier this month in order to acquire Myles Turner. The Bucks created salary cap space by spreading the $113 million remaining on Lillard's contract over the next few years.

Lillard's total salary from his Portland and Milwaukee contracts will reach $140 million over the next two years.

Damian Lillard will not play in the 2025-26 season due to an Achilles tendon injury. But he insisted on returning to Portland, where his family and children live. Lillard has also received offers from some championship contenders.

Portland traded Lillard to the Bucks in 2023 for Jrue Holiday and Toumani Camara. He then sent Holiday to the Boston Celtics. Currently, the Blazers have both Lillard and Holiday on their roster.
