Everton Ribeiro posted the following statement on his social media account: "Hello friends! About a month ago I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Today I had surgery and thank God everything went well. I am still recovering thanks to the faith and support of you and my family. Thank you for your prayers and concern. Your support is incredibly important. I believe that together we will win this battle."
On the other hand, the Bahia Club announced that the star player will not take part in training sessions as he is still recovering. Everton Ribeiro has worn the Brazil national team jersey 22 times.
