Atletico Madrid targets Inter's Frattesi, rejects a swap proposal
Atletico Madrid has initiated talks with Inter Milan to sign midfielder Davide Frattesi, according to Sky Sport Italia. Atletico Madrid has reportedly commenced discussions with Inter Milan over a potential move for midfielder Davide Frattesi. Inter Milan, it seems, has yet to make a definitive decision on whether to part ways with Frattesi. The 25-year-old has just completed his second season at Inter but struggled to cement a regular starting spot under former Nerazzurri boss Simone Inzaghi.
Frattesi was notably absent from Inter's Club World Cup campaign under Cristian Chivu due to a muscle injury. He returned to Europe just hours before Inter's elimination by Fluminense on Monday, alongside other injured key players such as Hakan Calhanoglu, Yann Bisseck, Benjamin Pavard, and Piotr Zielinski.
Atletico Madrid's interest in Frattesi aligns with their summer recruitment strategy, as they are already on the verge of bringing in another Italian player, Matteo Ruggeri, from Atalanta. The Spanish club's clear stance on not including Simeone in the deal suggests they view Frattesi as a significant reinforcement for their midfield and are prepared to negotiate a direct transfer.
