Arda Turan was very angry with the referee during last night's Shakhtar Donetsk-Panathinaikos match. Turan made a statement on the matter this afternoon.
In the second leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League Third Qualifying Round, Shakhtar Donetsk drew 0-0 with Panathinaikos. The first match, played in Greece, also ended goalless, so the game went into extra time and then penalties. Panathinaikos won the match 4-3 in the penalty shootout, while Arda Turan went berserk and was shown a red card.

Arda Turan made the following statement regarding the incident: "I am sorry for the red card I received and I apologise. But there is one thing I want to make very clear: If one of my players is shown an unfair card and sent off in a match of this level, I have to defend his rights. And I will do so.
I love this team. I love being a part of Shakhtar. I love the Ukrainian fans who welcome us with love wherever we go. Sometimes the beginning of the journey can be painful, but we will never give up hope for the future. We continue our journey in the Conference League. As I always say: One team, one family."
