Transfer statement from Merih Demiral: Inter and Milan were close

Merih Demiral, who plays for Al Ahli, made statements to Di Marzio. Merih said that he was close to Milan and Inter before, but the transfers did not materialise.

‘Everything is going very well, I am happy in Saudi Arabia, it was difficult to adapt but now I am fine,’ the national footballer said.

Merih Demiral said that he still follows Italy Serie A and added, "I learnt a lot there. It was important for my career. I still follow the league because my national team mates Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Kenan Yıldız are there. I still follow Serie A." he said.

Merih Demiral, who played for Sassuolo, Juventus and Atalanta in Italy, said that he was close to being transferred to Milan in his career. The 27-year-old footballer said, ‘I was close to Milan four or five years ago when I played for Juventus. At that time, Maldini was in Milan, but nothing else happened after that.’ Merih said that his transfer to the Italian team did not materialise when he played for Al Ahli. "I was close, but after talking to my current club, we decided not to go there," the national footballer said.

The 27-year-old footballer, who said that his transfer to Inter was in question when he played for Atalanta, said, ‘I was also close to Inter, but nothing happened because Atalanta did not prefer to sell me.’

Merih answered the question about returning to Italy, ‘You never know what will happen in football.’

Merih Demiral's contract with his club Al Ahli, whose current market value is 14 million euros, continues until 2026.
