Southampton's Paul Onuachu seals permanent Trabzonspor return
Southampton has confirmed the transfer of Nigerian international Paul Onuachu to Turkish Süper Lig side Trabzonspor. The 31-year-old, who spent last season on loan with the Turkish club, has now made his move permanent after a limited scoring record with the Saints.

Onuachu's time at St Mary's was relatively brief, featuring in just 40 appearances over two and a half years. All four of his goals for the Saints came last season, a campaign that saw Southampton finish at the bottom of the Premier League with a mere 12 points, leading to their relegation to the Championship. In contrast, his loan period at Trabzonspor proved far more fruitful, as he found the back of the net 15 times in just 21 matches, showcasing his potent goal-scoring ability in the Turkish league.

In a statement released on their official website, Southampton extended their gratitude, saying, "We thank Paul for his efforts during his time as a Saints player and wish him well."
On the international stage, Onuachu made his debut for Nigeria in 2019 and has since earned 24 caps, scoring three goals for the Super Eagles. He was also part of the squad that reached the finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished as runners-up. His permanent transfer to Trabzonspor signals a fresh start for the striker, allowing him to continue his form in a league where he has clearly thrived.
