Paulo Dybala: 'Mourinho convinced me'

Argentine star Paulo Dybala, who plays for Roma, made striking statements about his career. Dybala talked about the process of staying at Roma despite the offers and mentioned Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Dybala said: "I'm not going to lie, these are numbers that really make you think and you ask yourself ‘What am I going to do?’ but I think there are more important things. The truth is that me and my family are very happy in Rome. Sometimes they force you to make these decisions," 

"These are not the decisions of one person, sometimes clubs have to make choices that go against the principles and ideas of the players, but I don't know if I can find anywhere else the love I got from Roma, from the fans, from the club, from the owners and from the people on the street. So it wasn't easy. We talked a lot, we thought a lot and we decided to stay in Rome."

'MOURINHO CONVINCED ME'

"One day, one of my agents came to me and said that Mourinho wanted to talk to me. Of course Mourinho is special. A coach who has won everything, a unique person. I couldn't ignore his call."

"But I knew he would convince me and that's why I wanted to wait. The first time we met we just chatted, it was a long conversation but he didn't pressure me to get an answer right away. But the next day he wanted to call me back, so I told him to give me a few hours to talk to my family and my wife. I talked to them and my team and after I made the decision to join Roma I sent him a message saying ‘See you soon’. And so we finalized the deal"
