The acquisition is a significant coup for Eddie Howe's side, as Cordero opted to pen a five-year deal with Newcastle despite having held talks with European giants Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Porto. Cordero expressed his ambition, stating, "It's truly an honour to be here, truly a pleasure. I am a person who likes to aspire high. Why not come to one of the best places in the world to do it. It's a big step, and that's one of the reasons I'm here."
Cordero recently made headlines by scoring his first senior goal for Malaga in June 2024, netting a last-gasp equalizer in a play-off final second leg that helped fire his club back into the Segunda Division.
