The 35-year-old Czech racket, who announced in June that she would retire with the last grand slam tournament of the season, the US Open, said goodbye to the courts after losing 2-0 to French Diane Parry in the first round with sets of 6-1 and 6-0.

Kvitova, who won the Wimbledon title in 2011 and 2014, has topped the WTA singles 31 times.

UNFORGETTABLE SHARAPOVA-KVITOVA FINAL

Kvitova won her first Grand Slam title on July 2, 2011 at Wimbledon in the final against the famous Russian racket Maria Sharapova.
