Germany, one of the favorites for the 2025 European Basketball Championship, is without a coach! The Germans, who along with the 12 Giant Men are considered one of the strongest candidates for the gold medal, announced that Alex Mumbru will not be in charge for the rest of the tournament due to health problems.
Head coach Alex Mumbru handed over his job to Alan Ibrahimagic in Germany, which is aiming for a gold medal in EuroBasket 2025 and is considered one of the two strongest teams together with Turkey.

The Spanish coach, who was hospitalized during the group stage due to illness, joined the team in Riga but was unable to continue. The German Basketball Federation announced that Alan Ibrahimagic will lead the team for the remainder of the tournament.
MADE A STATEMENT
"In the last few days I realized that I am physically not in a position to lead the team, so I had to reorganize the tasks in the technical team. Alan will take over as head coach and I will provide the necessary support from the bench and work closely with the team," Mumbru said.
Reigning world champions Germany will face Slovenia in the quarterfinals of EuroBasket 2025. The Germans are the strongest team Turkey is likely to face in a possible final scenario.
