Alperen Sengun: 'Proud to fight for our flag'

The Turkish National Basketball Team lost to Germany 88-83 in the final of the European Championship and became the second runner-up in Europe.

The 12 Giant Men, who had a great performance in the tournament, could not stand up to the Germans in the final, which they led until the last second, and had to settle for the silver medal. After the final whistle, many of our stars could not hold back their tears. A National Basketball Team's Alperen Sengun was selected in the EuroBasket's top 5.

'FIGHTING FOR OUR FLAG IS THE BIGGEST PRIDE FOR ME'

Alperen Sengun expressed his feelings in a post on his social media account.

Here is Alperen's post: "This journey was not just the journey of one team, but of the whole Turkey. It is really hard to describe the pride in my heart. Every struggle, every training session, every minute, I felt the pride of being a part of this country once again. Because in every step, in every victory, in every loss, we were together, we became one.

Endless thanks to our citizens who watched and supported us, to our technical team, my teammates and my family who were always with us. Today, we may not be able to wear that gold medal, but the most valuable thing we have won is the place we have earned in the hearts of each and every individual of this country.

From now on, I will go to every game and every tournament with the same passion and determination, with even greater faith. Turkey's rise in basketball will continue. I believe that together we will reach even greater victories. Fighting for our flag is the biggest pride for me and when we come here again, this time I will do my best to fly it at the top."
