Vincenzo Italiano on Trossard... 'He fits our system very well'

Beşiktaş lost 3-2 to Slovakian club Spartak Trnava in its sixth and final preseason match as part of its preparations for the new season. Beşiktaş Head Coach Vincenzo Italiano spoke to the media after the match.

"WE LOST OUR FOCUS"

"First of all, we’ve started the season. We had a lot of young players with us during the preseason. Experienced players returned from national team duty. After they came back, we trained better. We also started preparing for the Midtjylland match. There are some things we need to fix. We started this match well, but we lost our concentration within 5 minutes and ended up losing the game. We’ll fix these issues over time. I can say that the preseason camp has gone well so far.”

"THIS TEAM WILL IMPROVE"

"A team needs to have an identity and principles. In my style of play, I have certain expectations for the wings and midfield. Our plan may change depending on the match, but our goal is to win every game. I think we’ll do well.

We started the match with Orkun. It was also Salih’s first match. I had to give him 60–70 minutes of playing time. We also played a practice match this morning, where I gave the younger players more playing time. I had to move Rıdvan to midfield. Some changes were out of necessity. Until the first goal, my team was doing quite well—we were reading the game well and were spread out effectively on the field. This team will get even better; it will develop and grow."
