Cardoso expressed comfort in Scotland's achievement, writing to Robertson that his success means Jota never truly left the pitch and that he will be carrying Jota's dream with him to the tournament. Robertson stated that Jota will be at the forefront of his mind as he captains Scotland in what will be the nation's first World Cup appearance in 28 years.
"I'm not only just playing for me, I'm playing for both of us," Robertson stated, reflecting on his dual purpose heading into the global tournament.
