Rockies Complete Sweep as Freeland Headlines Busy MLB Sunday

The St. Louis Cardinals avoided a sweep by beating the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1, and Max Scherzer moved to within three strikeouts of Walter Johnson on the all-time list. The Houston Astros extended their winning streak to six games by defeating the Texas Rangers 7-3, opening a 2.5-game lead atop the AL West.
The New York Yankees edged the Chicago Cubs 2-1, while the San Diego Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 5-4 for their eighth win in nine games. The Detroit Tigers crushed the Athletics 11-0 to complete a series sweep, and the Boston Red Sox swept the Los Angeles Dodgers with an 8-4 victory after winning six of seven games on their California road trip.
Elsewhere, the Miami Marlins, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Cleveland Guardians, Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners also picked up victories on a busy day across Major League Baseball.
