UNC said it will consider all appropriate corrective actions based on the investigation’s findings. According to WRAL News, lawyers have interviewed current and former players, along with university employees.
The report says the investigation may extend beyond Lombardi, widening the scope of the case. In his statement, Lombardi thanked Chancellor Lee Roberts and Bill Belichick, saying he resigned so the team could focus on the 2026 season.
Lombardi was absent throughout fall camp and North Carolina’s season-opening trip to Ireland, where the Tar Heels defeated TCU 15–10.
