The ATP confirmed that the vast majority of players have now successfully departed the region. Medvedev and Rublev were already spotted practicing in California on Wednesday night. The 2021 U.S. Open champion, Medvedev, won the Dubai title last Saturday just before the attacks. Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor was also stranded but eventually managed to fly to Milan. Doubles stars Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten are also safe after a failed attempt to reach Oman.
Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime narrowly escaped on one of the final flights out on Saturday. All three Russian players will benefit from first-round byes at Indian Wells due to their seeding. The safety of players and staff remains the ATP's highest priority during this ongoing crisis.
