Guardians Promote Top Prospect Angel Genao for MLB Debut
The Cleveland Guardians have promoted top infield prospect Angel Genao from Triple-A Columbus ahead of Wednesday's game against the New York Mets.
Ranked as Cleveland's No. 2 prospect, the 22-year-old will make his Major League debut, starting at third base and batting ninth.

Genao is hitting .300 this season with 13 home runs, 20 doubles, 11 stolen bases and 53 RBIs across Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. Since joining Triple-A on June 28, he has batted .390 with five home runs and 21 RBIs in 27 games.
Although primarily a shortstop, Genao can also play second and third base, with the Guardians needing depth as Jose Ramirez deals with a sore wrist. To make room on the roster, Cleveland designated Gabriel Arias for assignment one day after he committed a costly throwing error in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Mets.
Arias, 26, hit .244 with five home runs and 11 RBIs in 42 games this season and owns a .219 career batting average with 30 home runs in 362 games for Cleveland.
