This marks the first time a Manchester United player has won the prestigious award since Wayne Rooney achieved the feat in 2010. United has climbed to third in the Premier League under interim manager Michael Carrick, securing their Champions League spot with three matches to spare.

Khadija “Bunny” Shaw claimed the FWA Women’s Player of the Year award for the second time, leading Manchester City to their first WSL title in a decade.

The Jamaican striker has netted 19 goals in 21 games, putting her on track to win the Golden Boot for a third successive season. Shaw was a landslide winner in the voting, finishing ahead of Arsenal’s Alessia Russo in second and Chelsea’s Lauren James in third.
