These figures represent a massive increase from the 2022 World Cup semifinals in Qatar, which averaged 6.531 million viewers on Fox. The previous English-language semifinal record was held by the December 2022 France-Morocco match, which drew 6.595 million viewers.
In the United Kingdom, the match became the most-watched live television broadcast of 2026, averaging 22.1 million viewers across BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The UK broadcast peaked at 24 million viewers, capturing an incredible eighty-five percent of all active television viewers at that time.
