The doctors claimed that Maradona had stopped taking his high blood pressure medication shortly before his death, and that the former footballer, who suffered from serious heart problems, may have worsened his health due to this.
The prosecution, on the other hand, argues that Maradona had a history of heart problems and various pathologies, which the medical team, who are defendants in the case, failed to take into account.
In his testimony, cardiologist Oscar Franco said that Maradona, whom he treated at the private Ipensa Clinic in the city of La Plata on September 2, 2020, was taking the high blood pressure drug Losartan at the time.
Franco noted that stopping high blood pressure medication can lead to deterioration in the vascular system and heart muscle, increasing the risk of heart failure.

Marcos Correa, an internist who examined Maradona at the same clinic on November 2, 2020, said that while recording the star footballer's medications, he detected three different psychiatric drugs, but did not find any medication used for high blood pressure.
PROSECUTOR'S CLAIM
The ongoing trial in Argentina centers on the question of whether Maradona's death was preventable.
The prosecution argues that home treatment was inadequate, that regular medical check-ups were not carried out, and that Maradona's health deteriorated but that the necessary interventions were not carried out in time.
The prosecutor also argues that Maradona's medical team failed to provide the legendary footballer with the necessary medical attention and "abandoned him to his fate".
Seven health workers, including neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, nurses and health coordinators, are on trial.
MARADONA'S DEATH
An investigation was opened after Maradona's death, and 7 suspects, including Maradona's neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, were accused of causing the death of the legendary football player.
Maradona, one of the best players in football history, died on November 25, 2020 in Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina, due to "acute pulmonary edema due to chronic heart failure".
