Release Clauses Become Mandatory Worldwide

The "release/buyout clause" system, which is currently standard practice in Spain (such as the €1 billion clause in Barcelona player Lamine Yamal's contract), will become mandatory worldwide—including in the English Premier League—as of January 1, 2027. Clubs and players will be legally required to add a specific release clause to contracts that allows for contract termination.

5% Transfer Share for Low-Earning Players
According to another crucial rule coming into effect next year, footballers earning less than €150,000 annually will directly receive 5% of the fixed transfer fee when they are transferred. While this right can be waived, the player's share cannot be less than their fixed salary from the final year or 2.5% of the total transfer fee.

Heavy Sanctions Against Mobbing and Mistreatment
A protective shield is being introduced against club abuses, such as forcing players to train alone or confiscating their passports. Players whose rights are violated will be able to:

Terminate their contracts unilaterally.

Collect all future receivables.

Receive compensation for expenses and claim additional damages equivalent to 6 months' salary.

Veto Power and a Seat on the FIFA Council for FIFPRO
For the first time in history, FIFPRO will hold veto power over critical decisions affecting football governance and will secure a seat on the FIFA Council. In exchange for this major concession, FIFPRO will withdraw all legal proceedings and lawsuits it had initiated against FIFA over the congested match calendar.
