One surprise after another at Wimbledon; defending champion Iga Swiatek makes an early exit
At Wimbledon, the top tennis tournament, world No. 2 Elena Rybakina and defending champion and world No. 3 Iga Swiatek were both eliminated before reaching the quarterfinals.

At Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tennis tournament of the season, Elena Rybakina and Iga Swiatek were eliminated in the women’s singles, while Alex de Minaur advanced to the round of 16 in the men’s singles. The tournament, held in London, the capital of England, continued with third-round matches.

World No. 6 Australian player Alex de Minaur advanced to the round of 16 by defeating American tennis player Zachary Svajda in sets of 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, and 6-4.
In the women’s singles, 2022 Wimbledon champion and world No. 2 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan was eliminated from the tournament after losing to Belgian tennis player Elise Mertens in sets of 7-6 and 6-1. Defending champion Iga Swiatek of Poland was eliminated by Filipino player Alexandra Eala in straight sets, 2-0.
