The 29-year-old goalkeeper has drawn attention as the third German to guard the goal for the black-and-white team, following in the footsteps of Raimond Aumann and Loris Karius.

Beşiktaş, which has previously signed 201 foreign players from 58 different countries in its history, has now added Nübel to its ranks as the 14th German and 202nd foreign player to wear the black-and-white jersey.

Alexander Nübel was born on September 30, 1996, in Paderborn, Germany.

The experienced goalkeeper played for the youth teams of TSV Tudorf (2003–2005) and Paderborn 07 (2005–2014).

After signing his first professional contract with Paderborn, Nübel transferred to Bayern Munich during the 2020–2021 season after spending five seasons with Schalke 04.

Nübel, who later played on loan for Monaco and Stuttgart, has made three appearances for the German national team.

Following the departure of goalkeeper Ersin Destanoğlu, Beşiktaş secured their goal by signing Nübel.

The first German player to wear a Beşiktaş jersey was goalkeeper Raimond Aumann, who signed with the black-and-whites in 1994. At the time, Beşiktaş—coached by German manager Christoph Daum—entrusted its goal to Aumann.

Over the years, Stefan Kuntz, Thomas Hengen, Oliver Schaefer, Markus Münch, Sixten Veit, Fabian Ernst, Michael Fink, Roberto Hilbert, Andreas Beck, Mario Gomez, Loris Karius, and most recently Felix Uduokhai have all worn the black-and-white jersey.

With Nübel joining the team, the current number of German players at Beşiktaş has risen to two.

Meanwhile, right back Taylan Bulut, who plays for Beşiktaş, represents Germany at the youth levels.
