Lorient came from behind, scoring through Abergel in the 31st minute and Soumano in the 45+2 and 53rd minutes, winning the match 3–1.
Nice, who suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, was left in shock after the match. As the team bus headed to the training facilities, it was stopped by around 400 Nice supporters.
According to France’s RMC Sport, the players initially refused to get off the bus but later stepped out as tensions escalated. Some players were directly targeted by the fans.
Star players Jeremie Boga and Terem Moffi were subjected to spitting, punches, kicks, and even assaults targeting their private areas. They were also exposed to racist insults. Following these attacks, both players were given at least five days of medical leave.
