Rick Adelman, the US head coach with more than 1000 wins in the NBA, died at the age of 79.

Adelman, who became one of the all-time winningest head coaches in the league after a seven-season basketball career, has died, the NBA said in a statement.

Adelman coached the Portland Trail Blazers, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves between 1989 and 2014.
Adelman, who is also included in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, became the 10th head coach to win the 10th most games in the NBA with 1,42 wins in 1,791 games in his career.
