Lennart Karl will miss the World Cup

The 18-year-old star suffered a torn muscle fiber in his left thigh during training in the United States and the club is ready to give Karl every support at this difficult time, the Bavarian team said in a statement.

Sporting director Max Eberl said: "Missing the World Cup at the last minute is of course incredibly painful. But that doesn't change the fact that Lennart has great talent, passion and potential. He more than deserved to be at this World Cup thanks to that extraordinary first season as a professional."
