Spain, one of the favorites for the World Cup, faced Egypt at Espanyol's RCDE Stadium. As the match ended 0-0, a chant drew great reaction. Spanish fans chanted "Muslim who doesn't jump" during a part of the match.
Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, who wears the Spain National Team jersey, also heard these chants and reacted.
Yamal said, "I am a Muslim, thank God. Yesterday I heard chants of 'Muslim who doesn't jump' in the stadium. I know these chants are directed at the opposing team and not at me personally, but as a Muslim I think it is disrespectful and unacceptable behavior.
I know that not all fans are like that, but those who repeat such words: Making a mockery of religion makes you look like ignorant and racist people"
